Florida State running back Tavares Pressley was academically cleared by the school to play on Tuesday.
Pressley is a highly-touted running back with two years of community college experience. He is expected to compete with Antone Smith for the starting running back positon.
Pressley rushed for 832 yards and 11 touchdowns for El Camino (California) Community College last season. In his first season at Monterey Peninsula College, he rushed for 1,211 yards. Pressley, 6-foot-1, 215 pounds, entered college as a quarterback.
Smith, a 5-9, 188-pound senior, rushed for 819 yards last season, while battling myriad injuries. Florida State hasn't had a 1,000-yard rusher since 1996. |
